- Valid Registered Nurse License
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien
REPORTS TO: Principal/Designated Administrator
SUPERVISES: Pupils, and when assigned, clinical instructors.
JOB GOALS:
To provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued entry level careers; and to maintain good relationships with students and other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Works to achieve industry based state or national licensure or certification standards and/or district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom. Teaches pupils through an approved course of study using board-adopted curricula, textbooks and other appropriate teaching materials. 2. Maintains an inventory of program supplies, tools and equipment per district policy. 3. Identifies program needs and provides recommendations for annual budget, as requested. 4. Employs appropriate instructional and evaluative techniques and makes use of instructional materials in the classroom. 5. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. 6. Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives. 7. Assesses pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction. 8. Maintain computerized records of pupil’s educational progress as well as class record books and/or board approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes. 9. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems through referrals to the appropriate personnel. 10. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning and establishes procedures of control and conflict resolution to allow a maximum of teaching and a minimum of disciplinary action with due consideration given to the composition of a class.
11. Budgets class time effectively.
12. Communicates with students through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and discuss progress. 13. Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking, as well as the reproduction of facts. 14. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned, including clinical rotations at healthcare facilities. 15. Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities, including Professional Learning Communities. Takes advantage of opportunities to enhance his/her professional knowledge and instructional qualifications in the subject or teaching areas for which he/she is responsible. 16. Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups. 17. Makes effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program and holds the minimum number of Craft Advisory Committee meetings, as required by the district. 18. Exchanges observational visits, innovations and ideas with other instructors. 19. Develops the curriculum plan, performance tasks and objectives and related unit topic based on specified occupations within the career cluster. 20. Plans student learning experiences and teacher strategies. 21. Develops a climate that enhances the respect of teacher/student relationship, as well as respect among student peers. 22. Uses essential knowledge and skills statements appropriate for career cluster for planning curriculum and lessons to prepare student for employability skills and workplace readiness. 23. Integrate Core Academic Concepts and current industry based concepts throughout curriculum. 24. Takes an active part in continuing curriculum evaluation and revision. 25. Prepares the materials and activities for student recruitment. 26. Upholds and enforces school rules, ethical standards, administrative regulations and board policy. 27. Teaches and integrates safety procedures in compliance with district policy and safety laws and regulations. 28. Formulates with students acceptable standards of behavior related to occupational needs and consistent with Code of Conduct to maintain classroom and shop management. 29. Coordinates and maintains CTSO as an integral part of the instructional program by providing training and mentoring for state and national competitions. Communication with supervisors at the clinical sites for student placement. 30. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12 month)
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the evaluation procedures established by Board policy.
