QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years full-time work experience within the past five years in the appropriate career cluster or sixty semester hours of college credit in the career field.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions, work effectively with students and staff and maintain effective classroom management strategies.

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal .

SUPERVISES: Pupils, as assigned and classroom activities under the direction of the principal or other designed certified personnel.

 

JOB GOALS:

Carry out the absent teacher’s prepared lesson plan according to the prescribed school day schedule.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as a positive role model.
2. Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
3. Maintains a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
4. Demonstrates fair and ethical judgments and creates a climate of respect and fairness for all students.
5. Ensures the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare and safety of all students.
6. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
7. Reports to office upon arrival at school; checks mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; requests clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
8. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
9. Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
10. Organizes students for effective instruction.
11. Does not leave students unsupervised.
12. Dismisses all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
13. Collects and places students’ papers on regular teacher’s desk.
14. Returns instructional materials, equipment and keys to proper place.
15. Makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
16. Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
17. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
18. Promotes a favorable image to the school district.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) Month Year

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the evaluation procedures established by Board policy.
